Our speakers and workshop leaders for the day have extensive knowledge of the issues of climate change and are drawn from the fields of science, theology, social activism and practical experience.

Lance was tutor of pastoral theology at Westminster College, Cambridge and is currently minister of Emmanuel and Cherry Hinton Road United Reformed Churches.

Rev Dr Malcolm Brown

Climate change and political action: what is our Christian responsibility?

Malcolm served in the Cambridge Theological Federation, and is currently Head of Mission and Public Affairs Division of the Anglican Archbishop's Council.

Fabiola Blum

Climate change - how can the Church challenge society?

Fabiola is a Catholic/Methodist layperson with a background in environmental science and policy, currently working as biodiversity partnership co-ordinator for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Ruth is a Methodist layperson active in peace and justice issues, and works in education research.

Dr Hilary Marlow

The Bible and our response to climate change

Hilary has a PhD on reading the Old Testament prophets in the light of contemporary environmental ethics. She has a particular interest in religious motivations for environmental concern and for the past ten years has been involved in the Christian environmental charity, A Rocha.

Gillian Damerell

The science of climate change: an update for beginners

Gillian is a physicist who is moving into a PhD in oceanography via postgraduate studies in climate change science and policy. She admits to being an atheist (although not of the rabid, religion-hating variety) so this workshop will focus on the scientific issues.

David has completed postgraduate studies in climate change science and policy, including a dissertation on church responses to climate change.

Sandra, who honours the sacred in life, works with people and organisations as a counsellor, coach and ecopsychologist and is exploring the fears people face in giving up their CO2-dependent lifestyles.
